"The illusion of reality is the approach of my romantic paintings. The representational and abstract works show strong shapes and lines as well as vivid colors."

Step inside of the frame of one of Maïc's paintings and you may wander in the lavender fields of Provence, along a river to a castle in Avignon, through a dry creek bed of Palm Canyon, or you may wonder, looking through an open window where the flowers grace the table. Whether it is a cityscape, landscape, still life or an abstract piece, Maïc's vibrant colors draw us in to delightfully discover her impression of each flower, town or image.

Born in Provence, in the south of France, Maïc's paintings transport us to the worlds she imagines and now appear on her canvas. She incorporates the soft light of her homeland to her scenes inviting us in to sit a while at the sidewalk café, or rest our bicycle along the wall. As we exhale, we can feel the breeze and the warmth of that morning sun.

Maïc moved to San Diego, California in 1988, where her studies in ornamental horticulture taught her how to propagate plants to transform gardens into nurturing living spaces. She joined an art class in 1997 hosted by Yumi, a local professional artist. Her creative muse was given another medium with which to create beauty.

She lives with her husband, the love of her life, in a small hillside town in San Diego County. As she works, the morning light comes in through the second story window along with the fresh scents of her country garden. These combine with her inspiration to create the gifts she shares with us. Maïc loves to bring joy to others through her art and she is also known for her beautiful creations using pine needles. She produces her own fused glass to embellish her baskets and jewelry. "Pine needles are an interesting material to work with. They offer a new concept and structure in the creation of art."

She is a juried member of the Spanish Village Art Center, Coronado Art Association and San Diego County Art Mart Association where she was Vice President and is now Show Director. She was Art Coordinator for the Rancho San Diego Library, former president of Southwestern Artists' Association and was a juried member of the San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild.

Her painting: "Peupliers sur le chemin" was published July 2010 in the magazine San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles. Maïc's art can be found in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and most states in the USA.
